Manager-investor conflicts in mutual funds
Article Abstract:
The structure and regulation of mutual funds in the US are described with the resulting incentives facing those who make decisions for the funds. The Securities and Exchange Commission has taken legal actions against mutual fund managers and brokers based on improper trading practices and regulatory proposals to curb those practices.

Preserving funeral markets with ready-to-embalm laws
Article Abstract:
Laws regarding funeral services in the United States started out as purely public health measures but new laws aim to protect the public from poor-quality embalming. The effect of these regulations to the funeral industry, particularly in the cost of funerals, is explored.
