Manufacturing and competitiveness: the case of Greece
Article Abstract:
A conceptual framework that links manufacturing to competitiveness and deindustrialisation is presented and it is examined in the context of a novel 'simultaneous equation model' that tests both for deindustrialisation and manufacturing matters. The results indicate that the change in manufacturing shares have a positive and significant impact on competitiveness measured by per capita income, confirming that 'manufacturing matters'.

Quasi-effective governance: Slovak mass privatization 1991 - 1996

The progress of mass privatization in Slovakia is discussed. Slovak privatization resulted in an ownership structure that is based on strong internal mechanism and oriented on clients' relation to government in long-term perspective.
