Marketization of production and the US-Europe employement gap
Article Abstract:
Analysis of the employment gap between Europe and the United States in the 80's and early 90's is given. Previous research concluded that European wage setting institutions compressed wage differentials while the welfare programs increased the time unemployed persons remained unemployed, however, this research attempts to prove that the low employment rate was a result of marketization of work in the United States than in the European Union.

Research and explanation of the labor market in the United Kingdom is given. The United Kingdom has an unemployment rate of 5%, however research shows that poverty and inequality amongst the working age population in very high, specifically among families with children.

Regional variations in the competitiveness of unemployed job-seekers and the rate of outflows from unemployment
Article Abstract:
The length of time a person has been employed relates to the degree of competitiveness in job hunting. Regional differences in competitiveness are not found.
