Military Expenditure, Spin-off and Economic Development
Article Abstract:
The economics of military spending are examined in less developed countries. Defense spending can depress development through savings, investment and balance of payments. Spin-off benefits in technological progress, research and development, and skill creation demand are minimal.

Thinking about developmental states in Africa
Article Abstract:
Issues relating to developmental states in Africa are presented. A study proposes that the country has included states which were developmental in regards to their economic performance and their aspirations, which need to be closely evaluated for future benefit.

The time series on South African tertiary education is presented and the discrimination in it is highlighted. The data reveals that strong differences exist both within and between different parts of the tertiary education system.
