Multidimensional generalizations of the relative and absolute inequality indices: the Atkinson-Kolm-Sen approach
Article Abstract:
A generalization of the absolute inequality indices for social well-being first proposed by Atkinson, Kolm and Sen is undertaken using a multidimensional approach. Income used to be the sole focus of well-being determination in earlier economic theories, but other factors including interpersonal relations are beginning to be considered equally important. The multidimensional approach is useful in designing more comprehensive measures of welfare.
