One China, Ours
Article Abstract:
Results of the Taiwanese election, in which the ruling Kuomintang Party of Nationalist or mainland China routed the ethnic Taiwanese candidates, are analyzed. The ethnic Taiwanese, descendants of the original Chinese settlers and currently the country's wealthiest businessmen, resent the Nationalist Chinese domination of Taiwanese politics and their emphasis on returning to the mainland. Fang Sumin is a political heroine of the ethnic Taiwanese who won the second largest number of votes in the election. The Kuomintang Party refuses to deal with Peking.
