Optimal patent design and the diffusion of innovations
Article Abstract:
Companies which develop new products through research and development have the tendency of intensifying research efforts instead of manufacturing and marketing said products. However, this can be avoided by widening the coverage of patent protection laws. Increased coverage would assure innovative companies enough protection for their products. Moreover, incentives for research and development can still be maintained.
