Optimality of irreversible pollution accumulation
Article Abstract:
Optimal pollution accumulation was studied for instances when the decay function assumes an inverted-U shape. These types of decay functions are empirically relevant. However, they result in dynamic optimization nonconvexities. A two-stage optimization procedure was applied to handle the problem of nonconvexity. The two qualitatively different optimality possibilities were found to be capable of coexistence. Cases that allow a priori selection and require computation of both optimality candidates' present values were identified.

Oligopoly equilibria in non-renewable resource markets
Article Abstract:
Research exploring models of oligopoly of non-renewable resources is presented, with focus on economic depletion and feedback equilibria. Particular attention is given to the development of numeric solution schemes for feedback equilibria.
