Philippine overseas labour: from export to management
Article Abstract:
The Philippines is engaged in renewed discussions regarding its overseas labor program. The illegal deployment of migrants, a result of the activities of the local recruiting agencies, is of prime importance. The protection of migrants in regions without any specific agreement and the management of migration in a global economy are pivotal issues that need to be addressed. The deregulation approach of the Migrant Workers and Overseas Filipinos Act of 1995 bill, apparently providing workers with bargaining power, facilitates the recruiters to profit by exploiting the migrants.

The Asian consumer durable market: with special reference to China
Article Abstract:
The large population and high growth of gross domestic product (GDP) among Asian nations generates high demand for consumer durables and encourages new investments in consumer durable industries. The Chinese consumer durable market has grown rapidly in the 1990s. High quality durables, such as air conditioners, automobiles and telecom equipment show higher growth potential than the traditional durables like TVs, refrigerators and washing machines. Malaysia, Taiwan, Korea, Thailand and India also register high growth in consumer durable sales.
