Poised for resurgence
Article Abstract:
Tourism in Sri Lanka is rebounding from conflict in the north and east. The country is ambitious in promoting tourism and has a plan which resulted in a 22% increase from 1996. Recreational facilities planned for construction include many new golf courses, a sea-life park and a living arts center. The government is also examining legislation to legalize casino operations at five-star hotels.

Investing in the future
Article Abstract:
Sri Lanka is still considered one of Asia's more attractive investment destinations. The environment is investment friendly as there is total foreign ownership, no restrictions of repatriation of earnings, fees and capital and security of foreign investment is guaranteed. Sri Lanka's quality of life indicators are high for low-income countries.
