Preaching matters: replication and extension
Article Abstract:
The work of Jody Lipford, Robert E. McCormick and Robert D. Tollison shows that church membership and social misbehavior are negatively related. A research study provides the framework of an economic theory of church behavior and confirms the theory via less aggregated US county statistics. Churches were shown to encourage the appropriate behavior because it benefits churches and church members alike. Property rights enforcement is found to increase at a diminishing rate as church membership increases.

Decomposition of the Fisher Ideal index of productivity: a non-parametric dual analysis of US airlines data
Article Abstract:
A nonparametric decomposition of the Fisher Ideal productivity index is proposed to measure technical efficiency change, allocative efficiency change, shift in the cost function, scale economies arising from output changes and an adjustment factor reflecting change in the output attributes. Its empirical application to firm level data for 21 US airlines in 1983 and 1984 shows that the proposed method is consistent with evidence from other sources.
