Predatory versus productive government: the case of U.S. agricultural policies
Article Abstract:
Policy making in the US, as exemplified in the agricultural sector, is a mix between progressive and predatory government. While the policies encourage increased productivity and efficiency, the transfer of benefits from the producing group to a special interest group is demotivating if carried to an extreme. As political support is necessary for the success of any economic policy, both aspects must be considered in developing economically productive and politically supported policies.
