Price rigidities, inventories, and growth fluctuations

Article Abstract:

A model was constructed to analyze the effects of inventories and price rigidities on business cycles, particularly on growth fluctuations and inflation. It was found that price flexibility and storability of inventory goods are important in decreasing fluctuations in business cycle, but they do not guarantee lower macroeconomic volatility. The effects of price adjustment costs and inventory costs are also discussed.

Optimal price promotion in the presence of asymmetric reference-price effects

Article Abstract:

A mathematical model for creation of reference price was used to study the impact of consumers' reference price on the effectiveness of price promotion. It was found that the consumers' perception of the appropriate price of a product or service affects how much the price can alter. Calculation of the ideal frequency and degree of price promotion is presented.
