Market trade in patents and the rise of a class of specialized inventors in the 19th century United States
Article Abstract:
The creation of the patent system by the United States government in 1836 stimulated the invention of new technology by giving inventors a way to make money off of their ideas. Previously, inventors had to develop their own idea, but now they could sell the patent and move on to new ideas.

Retrospectives: how Joan Robinson and B.L. Hallward named monopsony
Article Abstract:
The history of economic words and ideas are studied in order to understand the workday dialogue of economists. The evolution and the etymology of the word monopsony are discussed and several other appropriate terms for 'a single buyer' that has entered the economist's lexicon are examined.
