Saudi Arabia: telecoms privatization
Article Abstract:
Saudi Arabia intends to privatize the country's telecommunications industry. The Saudi Telecommunications Company (STC) will be put up with a capital of about $2.6 to $3.2 bil in response to this aim for privatization. The government will be holding a 20% share in the private company. Moreover, the government will also allow its citizens to open post offices and mail delivery services all over the country.

Saudi Arabia announces budget and projects larger deficit
Article Abstract:
The Kingdom of Saudi Arabia released its projected deficit and budgeted spending for the year 1998. The Kingdom's budgeted spending and revenues for the year 1998 is expected to reach $52.3 billion and $47.5 billion, respectively. Meanwhile, the country's projected deficit for the year 1998 is set at $4.8 billion, which is much higher than last year's $1.6 billion actual deficit.
