Scenarios for energy: sustainable world vs global mercantilism
Article Abstract:
Two global scenarios formulated by Shell International Petroleum Company are presented and juxtaposed with each other. In the scenario of global mercantilism, the energy industry is confronted by new rules, dynamic markets and increased protectionism. In the sustainable world scenario, consensus and cooperation are regarded as crucial in the resolution of international economic frictions, including environmental issues.

Environmental protection at Tokyo Electric Power Company
Article Abstract:
The environmental proetction policies of the Tokyo Electric Power Company are discussed. The Japanese utility firm has incorporated environmental protection in its business strategies since the early 1970s. Both the 1973 policies and the more recent '3C' approach unveiled in May 1991 by the company are presented. Some of the prospects and challenges confronting the utility company are also outlined.

Norsk Hydro's environmental report

The pioneering work of Norsk Hydro, Norway's largest industrial firm, to develop the UK's first audited environmental report is detailed. The mechanics of its production, its conclusions and utility to other objectives of Norsk Hydro as well as for the industry in general are discussed.
