The toxic intensity of industrial production: global patterns, trends, and trade policy
Article Abstract:
Changes in the global distribution of industrial pollution were investigated by studying the toxic intensity of manufacturing that occurred between 1960 and 1988 in 80 countries. The results indicated that industrial emissions increased in relation to manufacturing output and gross domestic product. The toxic intensity of manufacturing in less developed countries with high growth and an outward orientation either grew slowly or declined. Economies with an inward orientation exhibited rapid increases in toxic intensity.

International investment location decisions: the case of U.S. firms
Article Abstract:
A study was conducted on the characteristics of preferred investment locations for multinational companies. In their effort to attract foreign investments, several governments have resorted to location tournaments through policy adjustment, incentive programs and promotional campaigns. Results show that multinational firms prefer to invest in countries with high quality infrastructures, low cost of labor and large domestic market.
