Sectoral and regional analysis of the consequences of Russia's accession to the World Trade Organization: assessments of costs and benefits
Article Abstract:
The outcome of Russia's accession to the World Trade Organization (WTO) with respect to the Russian producers, consumers, different branches of industry and service sectors is studied. The results indicate that the tariff reductions may not have the desired impact on output and employment, whereas the tariff policies may play an important role in direct foreign investment and bring in liberalization of the service sector.
