Siting major projects & the NIMBY phenomenon: the Decker Energy Project in Charlotte, Michigan
Article Abstract:
The Not In My Backyard attitude among residents of an area exists with regards to the siting of new projects that may cause negative consequences such as environmental costs along with real benefits. This situation is a real challenge to economic developers who have to come up with a method to thoroughly explain the intended project and be honest about adverse results, if any, to the residents of the area.

Pulaski County applies itself to stimulate growth
Article Abstract:
The economic development efforts in Pulaski County, VA, as undertaken by the organization aptly christened Pulaski Encouraging Progress, have been very successful and have even earned international recognition. The recognition came in the form of a citation from Site Selection Magazine in Apr. 1995 that was given out to honor the 10 "Best of Development" groups in the US, UK and France.
