The winner in the balloting for the 'single most important business problem' is "cost and availability of insurance" garnering 20 percent of the votes with 'taxes' and 'poor sales' tied in second place at 19 percent each. The all-time winner attracting 41 percent of the votes in the early 1970s is 'inflation' while the number-two position on the historical list is occupied by 'credit availability and interest rates' with 37 percent of the vote.

Small business outlook
Article Abstract:
The statistical data of small business outlook is presented month wise from the year 1998 to 2003. It was seen that 27 percent were encouraged by economic conditions, 24 percent by improved sales prospects, 43 percent by favorable financing conditions, 3 percent by costs and 2 percent by political climate.
