Socioeconomic status and health
Article Abstract:
The relationship between the socioeconomic status of individuals and self-reported health status in countries with varying degrees of economic development was considered using data from the Health and Retirement Survey which sampled 7,702 households from 1992 to 1993. The influences of socioeconomic status on health may be most evident only during childhood while economic 'shocks' may preside over economic 'shocks' in individuals in their 30s. Health is seen to affect socioeconomic status in individuals aged 50 or older.

Affirmative action and racial wage gap
Article Abstract:
The wage gap between African American males and other groups has worsened in recent years, and the disparity is due largely to the policies of the Reagan Administration. During the Reagan era, resources for the Equal Employment Opportunity Commission were decreased. The stagnation of wages for African American males is also due to the inclusion of other groups into the protected-minority status.
