The changing emphasis on healthy foods has influenced the market for sweet spreads which has experienced only a 0.9% growth in sales during 1995. Sales of the newer products such as chocolate spread have increased although spreads such a jam, marmalade and honey are more popular their market is stable. Sales from this food sector were 223 million pounds sterling but nutritional concerns may prevent further growth even though eating habits are changing to frequent quick informal meals.
