The WTO's trade policy review mechanism - from through the looking glass
Article Abstract:
A discussion of the organization, processes and objectives of the Trade Policy Review Mechanism (TPRM) of the World Trade Organization is presented. The TPRM was created as the WTO's foremost transparency mechanism, the process by which WTO members can investigate each others' trade policies and activities. It is argued that the TPRM faces significant problems in fulfilling the directives of its members and that the problems are mainly due to resource constraints.
