The baby sharks: strategies of Britain's supergrowth companies
Article Abstract:
The results of a 10-year study on high growth, medium-sized British firms are discussed. The various strategies employed by these supergrowth companies, whether during times of boom or recession, are specifically analyzed. Based on the experiences of the firms studied, 10 guidelines for medium-sized business enterprises are prescribed. These include building the core business, investing in quality, customer service and cost reduction and step-by-step diversification.

Social responsibility: what leading companies do
Article Abstract:
The social responsibility exhibited by UK's top 100 companies are presented. Analyses of the annual reports of the companies are carried out to gauge their social responsibility. Findings indicate that there are two types of socially responsible programs companies undertake. These include programs that are directly connected to the nature of business of the companies as well as donations to charities that have no direct relation to company business.

Pitfalls of geographic expansion
Article Abstract:
Many British corporations encounter failures in their attempts at global expansion. Most of these international ventures are done in response to changes in British economic conditions and not necessarily as a means to gain leadership in the global market. Global expansion could be the answer to international competition but they should not be done to balance portfolios or to gain access to growth markets.
