The developing countries in the WTO
Article Abstract:
Developing countries have increased their participation and have assumed very active roles in the World Trade Organization (WTO) starting with the Uruguay Round of the General Agreement on Tariffs and Trade. The participation of the developing countries in the WTO is examined from the perspectives of representation, participation in the new Organization and institutional capacity in new capitals. It is concluded that developing countries have little to gain by not being members of the WTO. Those who are members should not damage their membership status through nonpayment of their dues.
