Are government or private enterprises more likely to engage in dumping? Some international evidence
Article Abstract:
The incidence of dumping by government and private firms was investigated by analyzing data from data on anti-dumping investigations compiled by Finger and Olechowski and the UN Conference on Trade and Development. It was posited that government firms resort to dumping because unlike private firms, their objectives are directed towards maximization of output and revenue instead of profit maximization. It was revealed that 43% to 94% of dumping cases and 54% to 100% of dumping decisions involved government firms from nonmarket economies.

Econometric market delineation
Article Abstract:
Econometric market delineation is commonly used in antitrust analysis. The Federal Trade Commission and the Dept. of Justice have set out a new paradigm for market delineation for mergers. The methodology of econometric delineation is analyzed. Empirical estimates of demand for margarine and butter are used as an example for econometric delineation. The techniques examined should also be used in marketing research.
