The financial crisis and Arab countries

Article Abstract:

The Asian financial crisis has promoted a decline in prices of exports of Arab countries. These include oil, gas, aluminum, petrochemicals, cotton, and phosphates. The decline of oil prices declined in 1998 undermined the region's prospects for growth and pushed some nations into recession. Even though the effects of the financial crisis on the area have been limited, it may have promoted the weakening of the region's stock markets which began in the second half of 1998.
