The interaction between labor standards and international trade policy
Article Abstract:
The inclusion of social clauses in trade agreements is not ethically and economically correct. Poverty is likely to be reinforced by these clauses. Social clauses are connected with the problem of unfair competition and social dumping in the history of trade between countries with different labor standards. Trade liberalization and the harmonization of social policies in the European integration are examined.
