The local variability of rainfall and tribal institutions: the case of Sudan
Article Abstract:
A study was conducted to investigate the interaction between the spatial variability of ecological factors, such as rainfall, to property rights and political institutions and to the degree of tribal hierarchy and centralization. In particular, the analysis, whose results are discussed, aimed to contribute to the choice of suitable property rights and institutions for nations such as Sudan, which has great variation in rainfall, variability from one region to another and a dearth of other resources, such as minerals, energy sources and an educated citizenry.
