The market structure of the US aluminum industry
Article Abstract:
Global competition has challenged the US aluminum industry. Estimation of market power of the US aluminum industry from 1965-1988 show that this sector was competitive during this period. Increased competition was likely the cause of the sudden fall in prices in 1991-1993 rather than a change in market structure. It is estimated that the existing overcapacity will be dissolved as prices stabilize and approach minimum average costs.

Attitudes on race, culture and discrimination in mortgage lending
Article Abstract:
A survey research is conducted to examine the attitudes of the mortgage industry toward race, culture and discrimination in mortgage banking and to determine whether these attitudes vary by race. Most of the respondents claim that race and culture matter in the mortgage bank lending process. Results also indicate that there are feelings of discrimination in the lending arena, but these are divided across racial lines.
