The market value of rarity
Article Abstract:
A positive relationship exists between market value and product rarity. Market demand for rare and collectible products are much higher than for commonly available goods. In the case of coins, rare coins elicit higher market value than their common counterparts. Coins made out of original mintage have more attractive market value than collectible coins, which are symbolized by mint mark or year.
