The meaning and measurement of income mobility
Article Abstract:
Income mobility has several properties, namely: linear homogeneity, normalization, translation invariance, strong decomposability, weak decomposability and population inconsistency. These properties can be used as tools for the accurate measurement of income mobility. These measures are further subdivided into two: mobility due to economic growth or contraction and mobility due to the transfer of income within a given structure.
