The migration response to economic shock: lessons from Kazakhstan
Article Abstract:
The factors governing migration between Kazakhstan and Russia from 1995 to 1999 are discussed. An analysis of migrants based on age groups and the events occurring in Russia, in particular the 1998 financial crisis, is also presented. The effects of wage differences and real pensions are also discussed.
