The missing piece in policy analysis: Social Security reform
Article Abstract:
The US government has not recognized the need to adopt Social Security reforms despite the growing number of financial problems concerning the issue. An unfunded system, the system adopted by the US, provides a yield of about 2.6 percent compared to the 9.3 percent yield of a funded system. A shift from an unfunded to a funded system not only decreases the cost of purchasing retirement benefits but also increases the real rate of returns on contributions made by retirees.

The economics of health and health care: What have we learned? What have I learned?
Article Abstract:
Increases in health care expenditures as a fraction of GDP and federal health care excesses following the 1966 Medicare and Medicaid programs have shifted economic attention to the industry. In particular, hospital care costs have increased as better medical technology and higher quality of care has been demanded by both patients and physicians. This demand has been generated by government and private insurer assumption of more than 90% of hospital expenditures.
