The promise of public sector-sponsored training programs
Article Abstract:
Concern about the skills of the US labor force has increased for the past decade. In the same way, interest in the role which public sector-sponsored training programs will possibly play in addressing 'America's workforce crisis' has risen. A brief history and evaluations of US federally-sponsored training programs are given. Implications of past programs for the development of newer cost-effective training strategies are also discussed.

Socio-economic status and child health: does public health insurance narrow the gap?
Article Abstract:
The effects of public health insurance on children are studied based on the US experience. The extension of public health insurance programs to previously unqualified children have caused so much changes. Findings indicate that socio-economic gaps in utilization and health among children are narrowed down by providing them public insurance. However, there still remain inefficiencies and inequities in health care allocation.
