The social protection of women and family policy in contemporary Russia
Article Abstract:
This article examines the influence of the economic reforms implemented in post-Soviet Russia since the 1990s on the social policy devised at the same time, focusing on family policy and the protection of women. The author asserts that the deteriorating socioeconomic and political conditions in the country have had a negative effect on the quality of life especially for women with children and have worsened since the financial crisis of August 1998; the change in the composition of the needy population since the era of economic reform is considered, as is the worsening condition of women do to lack of access to financial institutions or land ownership, and dependence on wage income.

Migration: a good thing or a bad thing?
Article Abstract:
This article examines the Russian attitude, both public and official, toward migration since the 1990s, focusing on the negative connotations and predictions compared to the reality of migration in the country, which is author suggests is that common occurrence with positive aspects. Since the collapse of the Soviet Union many Russians living in former republics are expected to return, but haven't yet, while many Russians have left the country and moved to Europe, Israel or the United States; the post-Soviet economic hardships are also considered to influence people's negative attitudes toward migration.
