Enterprises and workers in the transition: econometric evidence
Article Abstract:
The effect of the restructuring of economic systems in Central and Eastern European countries on corporate behavior and employment can be explained by examining the econometric models on said countries. The data show the minimal effect of reforms on the former government enterprises and the immediate integration of said enterprises into the market. Moreover, the process of matching the unemployed with job vacancies was found to be inefficient.

Endogenous growth without scale effects
Article Abstract:
A research and development (R&D)-driven growth model that can explain puzzling economic trends in R&D employment levels, economic growth rates and patent statistics is presented. The model sheds light on the reasons why a steadily increasing R&D effort has not generated an upward trend in economic growth rates. It also accounts for the reasons why patent statistics have been roughly constant even as R&D employment has risen sharply.
