Small bank loan quality in a deregulated environment: the information advantage hypothesis
Article Abstract:
Although small banks have the information advantage in evaluating and monitoring loans, loan quality is found to be not greater in small banks. However, other measures of loan quality, such as in non-performing loans and other real estate owned, were found to be higher in small banks.

Research information regarding bank risk characteristics of bank assets is given. The paper analyzes bank lending explicitly and calculate loan-risk sensitive insurance premia.
