A review of the standard explanations of consumer choice and the economic concepts of consumer behavior is presented. A new theory of consumption based on social psychological and marketing models is proposed.

Towards a behavioral ecology of consumption: delay-reduction effects on foraging in a simulated Internet mall
Article Abstract:
Research describing the application of foraging theory and behavioral ecology to human consumption is presented. Results suggest that the experimental analysis of consumption may be extended to marketing strategy and Internet services.
