Trade and the Effect of Public Investment on Regional Inequalities in Heterogeneously Integrated Areas
Article Abstract:
Data from Spain and Mexico are used to examine the impact of trade integration arrangements on regional equalities, focusing on the interaction between private and public investment in stimulating economic activity and trade. While Spain's inequalities are driven by private capital formation and previous endowments, Mexico's are driven by variations in export capacity that increase private investment.

Who Supports Free Trade in Latin America?
Article Abstract:
Research on 17 Latin American countries indicates that support of free trade in the region is primarily found in countries with faster growth, more cropland, a higher gross domestic product, and a longer period between trade reform initiatives. Skilled workers were also found to be more likely to support free trade than unskilled workers.
