Trade reform, adjustment and growth: what does the evidence tell us?
Article Abstract:
Investigations into the effects of trade liberalization on the economy of developing nations under a dynamic model of growth showed that liberalization has the potential to increase the growth of GDP per capita, but that the manifestation of such growth is not immediately evident due to the probability lag in each of the factors in the model. The relatively small effect of liberalization is also due to the incremental liberalization steps taken by governments prior to free trade.

The new regionalism
Article Abstract:
The new regionalism is a direct outcome of the success of multilateral liberalization, reflecting the success of multilateralism. Regionalism plays a transitory, although critical, function in the reform process, but regional arrangements themselves are constant, so the future matters. Thus, a healthy level of vigilance and suspicion toward new regional initiatives should be maintained.
