US investment in EU member countries: the internal market and sectoral specialization
Article Abstract:
The distribution and development of US investment across the European Union (EU) member countries over a period of 10 years was examined. The study focused on whether sectoral specialization occurred following increased integration of Europe. The results showed that US investment did not play a role in the increased specialization of core EU countries. However, in small and peripheral countries, a trend toward sectoral specialization was noted. Thus, despite increased integration, individual country markets still count as determinants of location.
