Unravelling the mysteries of China's foreign trade regime
Article Abstract:
Trade policy shifts between 1978-90 explain China's economic growth during the same period. The reforms, which were implemented at provincial and city levels, focused on raising China's exports and foreign investments in special economic zones. These include the creation of export production networks for certain industries and policies on direct export and import rights, exchange retention rights, export objectives, taxes, pricing and export licensing.

South Asia: does preferential trade liberalisation make sense?
Article Abstract:
The article examines both preferential and non-discriminatory approaches to trade liberalization in South Asia, with the former involving bilateral free trade areas and the latter involving unilateral agreements. The author argues that preferential trading would not be beneficial, especially in India, as the business lobby influence is too powerful.
