Following the flight of the wild geese
Article Abstract:
Six volumes on Irish migration will be published in 1993. They will focus on such themes as the new communities created, Irish women, religion and famine. Migrants leaving Ireland have founded substantial communities in such countries as the UK and US, Australia, New Zealand and Mexico. The first volume looks at the Irish in the 16th century up to present-day illegal immigrants in the US. The second volume covers how the Irish moved round the globe and how they carried their Irishness with them.
