A first glass honour
Article Abstract:
Sunderland, England has a history of interest in glass. In the seventh century French specialists were brought to Sunderland to produce the first examples of stained glass in the country. The interest continued down the centuries to current plans for a 16 million pounds sterling National Glass Centre which will open in 1998 and include galleries, workshops and a visitor centre. The project was set up by a partnership including the University of Sunderland which has also appointed Dan Klein as professor of glass. Klein describes his previous work and his passion for glass.
