A-mazing rat-robot man aims to mimic humans
Article Abstract:
Research fellow in the department of anatomy at University College London Neil Burgess insists that he is carrying out serious work into understanding how the human brain works when he plays with his robot cyberpet or tries out his virtual reality computer games. Burgess believes that he will eventually be able to mimic human memory on a computer in the same way as he has built a robot that simulates the behaviour of a rat trying to find its way around. Burgess reveals that his experiments have shown that human and rat brains have more in common than had previously been thought.

Taking things at face value
Article Abstract:
Massachusetts Institute of Technology Sociologist of Science Dr Sherry Turkle has been researching the relationships between people and their computers, particularly children. Turkle suggests people are no longer really interested if computers are very intelligent. She acknowledges people now find it easy to interact with computers. In her work Turkle found some people found their real lives less interesting than their many personae in their virtual lives.
