An examination of US businesswoman Sandy Lerner, her obsession with the works of Jane Austen and how this obsession led her to spend UKPd10 mil to recreate the world of Austen so that scholars and the public could experience it for themselves. Lerner's passion for Austen and the time and money she has been prepared to invest has resulted in the opening of Chawton House in Hampshire as the Library and Centre for the Study of Early English Women's Writing from 1600-1830.

Richard Mason, who is studying at New College, Oxford, England, mainly wrote his first novel, 'The Drowning People,' during his gap year.
