AUT pay claims 'misleading'
Article Abstract:
Claims by the Association of University Teachers (AUT), a lecturers' union, that, as a result of its industrial action, employers have made an increased pay offer of 12.2% over two years are misleading and the union has been forced to retract these claims following counter-statements from sister unions and the employers. Employers state that the deal accepted by the AUT's leaders contains no more money than the earlier pay deal.

'Porter may earn more than a don'
Article Abstract:
The Association of University Teachers (AUT) has claimed that, under the offer for higher education pay that is currently being negotiated, plumbers, cleaners and porters could wind up earning more than lecturers. Employers responded by stating that the figures released by the AUT are "nonsense", while other trade unions, the majority of which have already accepted the new pay scheme, also questioned their validity.
