American identity: the erosion of American national interests
Article Abstract:
American identity disintegrated when immigration increased after the Cold War. As a result, a foreign policy was implemented to limit US participation in world concerns and promote commercial and ethnic interests. Enhanced focus on national interests is advised.

Civil-military relations in democratic countries are improved by defining the rights and responsibilities of both authorities. By so doing, the possibility that the democratic process will succeed is increased.
