Arts metrics plan revealed
Article Abstract:
An expert group established by the Arts and Humanities Research Council (AHRC) to consider alternative ways to assess research has come up with a complex metrics-based system which uses quantitative information about research activity and outcomes of a university department to determine how research funding should be distributed in the future. Included in the system is a 100-point scale, with points allocated for different aspects of performance.

Arts academics slate metrics
Article Abstract:
Learning societies have warned that the Arts and Humanities Research Council (AHRC) is in danger of losing the confidence of the academic community if it finds metrics to replace the RAE. A joint AHRC and Higher Education Funding Council for England group is moving to establish metrics, in line with Treasury demands, which could be used to judge humanities and arts research.
